Very interesting article. Having been treatment-resistant for years I decided to check my thyroid with the following results (with reference values for the UK given alongside)

TOTAL THYROXINE(T4) 98 nmol/L 59 - 154
THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE *5.83 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.20
TRIIODOTHYRONINE(T3) 1.7 nmol/L 1.3 - 3.1

My doctor said this indicated sub-clinical hypothyroidism but was unwilling to treat it as he said he thought it would do more harm than good and didn't believe it would be worth it.

Id like to try it just because antidepressants sure as hell haven't worked so perhaps this might, but he isn't keen and just ups my dose of ADs

Would you consider it worth going private (where at least doctors tend to indulge patients demands more)

I found your site while searching the thyroid drug cytomel,,, found it to very informative and so true . I do hours of research trying to understand my own heath and mental problems. most site dont explain the whole picture and many doctors do not totaly understand all that is involved in treating thyroid problems. they are stuck with the conventional ways and really dont want to try anything different. I am so happy you do dr Jones. I have severe depression, fibromyalgia, and suposedly many more problems. My point i trully believe it is all related to a thyroid desease that was never treaded correctly and not diagnosed untill i was 31 years old, I am now 60. I live in pain 24/7 never leave my house and have lost all of my will to continue on like this
I am now trying cytomel pretty much on my own since not to many doctors in my area perscribe anything but synthyroid and of acourse only according to the test resultsand so called normal ranges.
I was on armout thyroid after being on synthroid since i was 31 . Syarted taling armour and expermenting with cytomel on my own 3 years ago. I do have a doctor that treats me for fibromyalgia that at least lets me try things but it does it and goes by the info i bring him from the enternet. He does make sure i dont get to much,, that is the problem. Like i said i was on armour thyroid but it seemed my tounge would be thick didnt connect the 2 untill i stopped all meds i was on , sick of all of them and still kept getting worse but puttling up with the side effects to.
At this point i do feel i am on my own and if i dont get some relief from the cytomel i am ending it,, dont want to be stuck in this prison of pain and depression any longer, it isnt living it is exsisting.
Just needed to vent, it sometimes helps . your info gave me some hope
Sincerely
